Environmental Graphic Designer
At Apple Designs, we create information systems designed to improve public navigation through complex environments. We specialize in static and dynamic signage, wayfinding information systems, experiential graphic design, and visual communications.
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Graphic Designer to help create memorable experiences that guide people through the built environment. You will lead creative wayfinding assignments from concept through installation, collaborating with our design team and outside architects, engineers, and interior designers to plan and implement creative wayfinding solutions for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, visualize, and illustrate how people interact with and use space.
- Lead creative design assignments from concept through installation, including construction documentation, scaled plans and elevations, and implementation.
- Design and plan a variety of EGD project types, including signage, wayfinding systems, and integrated interior graphics.
- Create 2D and 3D renderings to visualize and present design concepts to clients and consultant teams.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and interior designers, and interpret client needs to guide them through detailed decision-making processes.
- Research materials, manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Review shop drawings, material and color samples, and mockups; participate in punch list reviews and other construction administration tasks.
- Gather and evaluate project information, including design research and site surveys.
- Attend and lead client meetings and weekly progress meetings, with limited occasional travel based on project needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or Interior Design.
- 5+ years of professional experience in environmental graphic design, wayfinding, or signage design, including experience managing projects from concept through construction administration.
- Strong knowledge of graphic communication principles, typography, and information hierarchy.
- Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills, particularly Illustrator.
- Experience using AI tools to generate design theming and preliminary concepts.
- Solid understanding of wayfinding principles, signage systems, and ADA code as it pertains to signage and graphics.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong written/verbal communication, organizational, and leadership skills; detail-oriented.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members across creative disciplines and mentor junior staff.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, with a passion for staying current on design trends and technologies.

Signage & Wayfinding Specialist / Structural Designer (Revit)

We are seeking an experienced Signage & Wayfinding Specialist / Structural Designer with extensive Revit expertise to develop the technical detailing behind our signage systems. Revit is where this role lives every day: you will model signage systems, build custom families, produce the fabrication and installation details that signs are actually built from, lead the detailing effort on your projects, and guide other designers developing signage details of their own.
This is a construction-documentation and detailing role, not a conceptual design role. Day to day you will be resolving mounting and attachment methods, connections, and material and finish callouts, and producing the drawing sets that carry them. You will also review contractor and fabricator shop drawings for conformance with our design intent. We are looking for someone who can carry the technical standard for the work, not just execute against someone else’s.
Revit proficiency is non-negotiable. This is not a role where Revit is a bonus or something you can pick up on the job. You should be fluent in building and editing families, detail components and drafting views, sheet set and view management, and worksharing in models hosted by outside architects and consultants. Candidates who work primarily in AutoCAD, or whose Revit exposure has been occasional, will not be a fit for this position.
Responsibilities
- Model signage systems and individual sign components in Revit and build detailed Revit families and model components for signage applications.
- Develop construction details in Revit for signage fabrication and installation, including mounting and attachment methods, connections, and material and finish callouts that fabricators and installers build from.
- Produce signage location plans, message schedules, and design intent documentation in Revit across projects of various scales.
- Produce sheet sets in Revit for project deliverables, and extract views and elevations from Revit models.
- Manage shared Revit models and participate in BIM coordination with outside consultants and architects.
- Serve as technical design lead on assigned projects, setting the detailing approach and holding the drawing set to a consistent standard.
- Guide and review the work of other designers developing signage fabrication details, providing technical direction, redlines, and mentorship.
- Review contractor and fabricator shop drawings and submittals for conformance with design intent, and issue clear, documented comments.
- Coordinate signage placement with architectural conditions including door frames, lighting, and surrounding finishes.
- Coordinate signage requirements with structural, electrical, and other project consultants.
- Collaborate with clients, designers, architects, general contractors, and fabricators throughout the project lifecycle.
- Travel to project sites periodically to conduct signage surveys, oversee installations, and complete punch lists.
Requirements
- Extensive, current, hands-on Revit experience — 4+ years producing construction-level documentation in Revit. This is the single most important qualification for this role, and applicants who cannot demonstrate real depth in Revit will not be considered.
- Demonstrated fluency across the Revit skills this job depends on: creating and editing families, detail components and drafting views, sheet set and view management, schedules, and worksharing in shared models hosted by outside architects and consultants.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Civil or Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, Environmental Graphic Design, or Drafting and Design Technology. Related technical or design degrees will be considered — tell us how yours applies.
- Demonstrated experience developing construction details for fabrication and installation, including connections, mounting and attachment methods, and material and finish callouts. Plans, schedules, and presentation drawings alone are not a substitute.
- Experience reviewing contractor or fabricator shop drawings and submittals against design intent.
- Experience serving as a technical lead: setting the detailing approach, reviewing and redlining others’ drawings, and mentoring less experienced designers.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans with a high degree of accuracy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in drawing production.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while working independently.
