Maryland Transit Authority: Baltimore Red Line Rail Stations
Date: December 2014
As a member of the General Engineering Consultant Team contracted by the Maryland Transit Authority for the Baltimore Red Line light rail project, Apple Designs served as the official wayfinding signage consultant for all station signage. The project consisted of 19 stations (14 surface and 5 underground) and one Operations & Maintenance Facility. The sign system was designed to be generally static and non-illuminated in nature while providing suggestions for additional and alternate lighting to ensure adequate distance readability. Sign systems were designed to maximize wayfinding efficiency while incorporating complimentary construction materials. In addition, Apple Designs developed signage technology concepts to expand functionality through dynamic signage, PA system (announcements), and security cameras.
