Transportation & Multimodal Study for Historic Towns

In an effort to improve wayfinding for multimodal transportation and parking within select historic towns of Baltimore County, Apple Designs reviewed existing signage, proposed recommendations, coordinated with stakeholders, and gathered community insight. Apple Designs performed a comprehensive sign survey and study of vehicular and pedestrian signs with a focus on directing visitors to parking areas convenient to their destination, enhancing navigation through town, and access to trails and bike paths. Using this analysis along with user feedback obtained from multiple public forums, we developed a set of recommendations for improving signage and wayfinding around town. Working with the design team, we provided proposed upgrades for pedestrian, vehicular, and multimodal users. Our recommendations included options for sign designs that provided a more historic aesthetic while maintaining the highest level of visibility and legibility.
