Interior & Exterior Wayfinding Analysis and Signage Design
The James A. Haley Veteran’s Hospital is a 566-bed tertiary care teaching hospital dedicated to providing the highest quality of patient care and services to veterans in Central Florida. The hospital is affiliated with the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Apple Designs was contracted by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to develop new interior and exterior signage. Apple Designs performed and produced a wayfinding analysis for the building interiors and exterior site. By designing solar powered monument directional signs with LED illumination, we accommodated the VA’s desire for sustainable design. Smaller, non-illuminated directional signs were designed to be easily modified to include illumination in the future. The interior sign system is ADA compliant and meets all current codes and regulations. Although the materials and finishes of the interior signs differ from the exterior sign system, the wave design element and the shape remain consistent for both signage programs.
