Tampa International Airport: Reclaim Long-Term Parking Garage
Date: November 2019
Originally constructed in two phases (1991: levels 1-6 and portions of levels 7 and 8 which housed the monorail; and 1996: the remaining sections of levels 7 and 8), the objective of this project was to reclaim areas being utilized for Rental Car services and transition to customer self-parking renovating on the HV and BC levels for the Long-Term Parking Garage (LTPG) including the renovation of the HV and BC levels of the garage and reclaimed Rental Car areas transitioning back to customer parking. Apple Designs provided wayfinding and signage design services for not only the HV and BC levels for new customer signage but also updated vehicular and pedestrian signage throughout the entire garage to address level renumbering, destination and nomenclature/messaging changes, materials updates (i.e., improved retro-reflectivity) and ensured adherence to applicable ADA and code requirements. This project is estimated to have added an additional 2,241 parking spaces bringing the capacity of the LTPG to 9,041.
